Imagine there’s no heaven, no hell below us.

Above us only sky.

Imagine there’s no countries, no reason to kill or die for.

And no religion too.

Imagine no possessions, no need for greed or hunger.

A brotherhood of man.

Imagine all the people, living for today.

Living life in peace…

Sharing all the world…

You may say I’m a dreamer,

But I’m not the only one,

I hope someday you’ll join us,

And the world will live as one.

John Lennon (Imagine, 1971)

To the departed souls who we will inevitably join,

To the grieving parent who lost his child,

To the disobedient child who lost a parent,

To the incessant love that lost a lover,

To the intimate friendship that lost a being,

To the fraternal relationship that realized its mortality,

To the brave bystander helping to identify the dead,

To the tenacious medics helping the injured,

To the belligerent police securing the living and the dead,

To the generous donors lining up to donate blood for their peers,

To the feisty worker who went to work the very next day,

To the unknown stranger who held your hand,

To the defiant musician who played his notes on the eerie streets,

To the spirit of humanity that felt weakened,

To the brave people of Paris who didn’t hide in their homes,

To the coward shooters and bombers who brought death upon themselves and onto others,

To the prospective terrorists who condone acts,
